چکیده
Abstract The purpose of this study is to extract more information about the scaling exponents we obtain from sea surface temperature (SST) because their content limited a single value. We examine application empirical mode decomposition (EMD) power-law using SST Scripps Pier, California. daily observations employ extend 1920 2009, period 90 years. annual cycle and long-term trend were first removed. produced total 15 modes. then calculated separately for each EMD. have examined distribution with respect ensemble, individual modes oceanic processes that may infer them. three are antipersistent contain one-quarter variance. pattern was obtained continuous relatively smooth beyond 3 increasing values up 8 generally decreasing thereafter. exhibits intramodal correlation, as expected, intermodal correlation well. Intermodal likely due, most part, long-range persistence. in at Pier dominant feature record contains almost 70% A method removing not based on mean value introduced recommended future use.

A closer look at arrested spinodal decomposition in protein solutions.
Concentrated aqueous solutions of the protein lysozyme undergo a liquid-solid transition upon a temperature quench into the unstable spinodal region below a characteristic arrest temperature of T(f) = 15 °C. We use video microscopy and ultra-small angle light scattering in order to investigate the arrested structures as a function of initial concentration, quench temperature and rate of the tem...

Aspects of March and Simon’s (1958) subjective expected utility model and a prediction of Lee and Mitchell’s (1994) unfolding model of voluntary employee turnover were tested. A policy capturing simulation that varied high, moderate, and low levels of five job characteristics was used to model voluntary turnover decision processes for 532 nurses. Survey measures of these job characteristics obt...
متن کاملA Closer Look at Preduction
In a recent paper Jun Arima formalises the idea of preduc-tion { a non-monotonic schema providing a common basis for inductive and analogical reasoning. We examine some of the implications of this schema, as well as its connections with prototypes and conceptual spaces. A generalised version of his schema is motivated and developed to address diiculties with asymmetry and disjuncts.

Bellare, Canetti and Krawczyk [BCK96] show that cascading an ε-secure (fixed input length) PRF gives an O(εnq)-secure (variable input length) PRF when making at most q prefix-free queries of length n blocks. We observe that this translates to the same bound for NMAC (which is the cascade without the prefix-free requirement but an additional application of the PRF at the end), and give a matchin...
متن کاملA Closer Look at Trumping1
According to Schaffer (2000a), “trumping preemption” is a category of redundant causation distinct from early and late preemption and from overdetermination. I show that the putative causal difference between causal processes in cases thought to be trumping preemption generates early preemption or overdetermination rather than trumping. I draw a novel lesson from cases thought to be trumping: t...
